Expanding the Trans-Canada Highway

Through the combined efforts of the federal and provincial governments, we’re investing $306 million to twin more parts of the Trans-Canada Highway, between Whitbourne and Grand Falls-Windsor.

This will increase capacity and allow better separation between opposing traffic lanes. This means easier access between rural communities, improving safety and making the TCH more resilient to climate change.

This historic investment in infrastructure will grow our country’s economy, build more resilient communities, and improve the lives of Canadians.

Twinning the Trans-Canada Highway here will lead to safer commutes and better movement of goods across the island. That means spending less time on the road, and more time with your family.
